Brooke Bond Picture Cards Prehistoric Animals

$8.00 USD
Brooke
These may have been given away free in packets of tea, but make no mistake, these are a serious educational tool. The illustrations were done by wildlife artist Maurice Wilson who not only illustrated loads of books, but also did the artwork for displays and books for the Natural History Museum in London. The comprehensive text on the back was written by Dr. Alan Charig an English palaeontologist who also worked for the Natural History Museum. He was not only an expert in his field, but is also credited with encouraging interest in the subject through his work on TV. The creatures include the well-known such as Brachiousaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Stegosaurus, Iguanodon, Triceratops etc. as well as the more unusual such as Gerrothorax which gets its name from the Greek for 'wickerwork breastplate' a reference to the armour around its middle section or Australopithecus an ape-man with massive jaws but tiny brain. A worth set for any collection with cards size 68 x 36mm.
